"I want to make it feel like a concert," director George Tillman Jr. said during a visit to the set of the Notorious B.I.G. biopic, which hits theaters January 16. "Like you're right there in the middle of a show. ... On that day, it felt like I was performing with [Big], 'cause you go out backstage to shoot scenes, you see entourages, you see people with their own cliques hanging out. I felt like I was with a rap star."
"Performances, that's what I do" said Jamal "Gravy" Woolard, who plays Biggie in the film. "I'm gonna make you feel like you see him up there. Like he's not gone. That's what I got to do."

---I can't wait for this movie to come out. I've been waiting for a year since I heard this film was in production. I'm glad that this movie was shot as a bio-pic and not as a documentary. To see Hollywood's take on the Brooklyn legend, i'll spend that $10. I might even get a box of sour patch kids! Fox Searchlight put together a great website, CLICK HERE, blogging about the status of the film. 'Notorious' hits theaters January 16th!
---The soundtrack (CLICK TO PRE-ORDER) hits stores and iTunes January 13th and features some of Biggie's classics as well as a few new tracks by Jay-Z, Jadakiss, and even features 3 unreleased demos from BIG just recently discovered.

DJ Don Cannon Leaves Aphilliates
Straight Jacked from hiphopdx.com.....
"December 10th, 2008 Author: Omar Burgess
After working with the Aphilliates on an official album and countless mixtapes, DJ Don Cannon confirmed he left Aphilliates Music Group via press release yesterday. Cannon will now be managed by Disturbing Tha Peace co-founders Chaka Zulu and Jeff Dixon.
"The split is merely a business and creative difference, musically, nothing to do with the personal relationship. We are on good terms, and speak often," Cannon stated.
The press release also states Cannon and AMG officially parted ways back in January "due to business and creative differences for the vision of Cannon Music, LLC." In addition to the trademark "Cannon" drop found on many of his tracks, Cannon's production work includes "Everybody Hates Chris" by Ludacris, "Go Crazy" by Young Jeezy and 50 Cent's "Man Down." Together, Cannon and DJ Drama created critically acclaimed mixtapes such as Lil Wayne's Dedication series, T.I. and P$C Meet in the Streets and Young Jeezy's Trap or Die.
Cannon did the majority of his work behind the scenes as a co-CEO of Aphilliates Music Group. His name made headlines in 2007 when he and DJ Drama were arrested on charges of bootlegging and racketeering for making industry sanctioned mixtapes. Since then, Cannon has done production and engineering work on dozens of albums. He was also named Mixtape Producer of the Year at the 11th Annual Mixtape Awards in May."
--I've always liked dude's beats. There sample heavy and southern artists fuck with him. There was this dope mixtape that the Aphilliates did a while back where they featured original samples, i guess we won't be hearing anymore of those anytime soon!

Alchemist Makes 'Key To The City'
One of my favorite producers, left coast's very own The Alchemist just posted this video of him in the studio messing around with the MPC 2500, constructing "Key To The City" which features Prodigy & Nina Sky. Alchemist's new digital EP is on iTunes right now! It's super fire! And be on the lookout for the new Alchemist LP "Chemical Warfare" dropping in Feburary 09'.
P.s. i need to get me a pair of "Beats" headphones by Dr. Dre. I also heard that the alchemist loves seattle weed...

Go Cop That Common LP!

Today, Common's 8th studio album hits stores and iTunes. Make sure to go out and support the artists! I've read a few reviews and most people are hating on this album. Some are even saying The Neptunes fell off. Now, after listening to the album, i'll admit, it's more 'Electric Circus' than it is 'Be'. Common's golden child Kanye West (who co-executive produced this album w/ The Neptunes) only appears once on the LP on the track "Punch Drunk Love". Which is a favorite of mine. I dig this album overall, although I will be skipping over a few cuts.
